Another book that I finished in Eindhoven, Library of Souls, the third and last book of the series. It started with the last scene from the second book, where Jacob, Emma (the girl who can make fire), and Addison (a dog who can talk) got cornered by hollowgast and Jacob said something in a growl that makes the hollowgast stop to corner them. They are surprised. Furthermore, Jacob continued to order the hollowgast with its language which is Jacob's new ability besides just see them (hollowgasts). The hollowgast obeyed him and they ran to go out from the train station when wights came from outside (disguised as cops) and chased them. They changed plan. They took the next train which stopped by and came inside brought Sergei (a flexible man who is injured) with them. Jacob ordered his hollowgast to kill the wights and in the end, the hollowgast came with them by sticking its tongue to the last train's container.
On the train, Addison was sniffing the smell of peculiar children, so they knew where they were. Until they found out by normal people because Addison was talking to them and the wights (came from another station when the train stopped by) knew where they were and fortunately the door to their container was locked. The next station, they went out from the train and out from the station without Sergei because he was so ill and they could not bring him with them. Lucky for them that there was cosplay event, so their blood clothes were unnoticed.
Addison sniffed peculiar's smell (it is London nowadays) until they arrived in some cave in the river and went in. There were a lot of rats and they found a boat there. When they wanted to use it, a man shouted to them that they are stealing from him. He is Sharon, the boatman (which is peculiar too). They made an agreement that Sharon took them to Devil Acre, the place that they thought that is the place where their friends arrested, and Sharon would get paid after that.
They went to Devil Acre which is another loop where it was a dirty place and like at the earlier times. Suddenly, when they were already in Devil Acre, they got stopped by like pirates there who can release yellow fog (which is blinding). Jacob, Emma, and Addison were hiding under the sheet when Jacob's hollowgast (which is followed them until now) sticking its tongue under the boat which was making the boat vibrate. The pirates suspicious and wanted to open the sheet which was Sharon did not want to and want to give them some money which is failed. When they wanted to open it, Jacob ordered the hollowgast to attack the pirates. They ran away leaving the hollowgast which was the thought was dead.
They went to a bank to landing. When Sharon wanted to left them while Jacob, Emma, and Addison begging him to join them, the boat was broken. Unwillingly, Sharon joined them with a condition they must to add his price and fix his boat. In the middle of their walk, Sharon permitted himself to meet his lawyer which left Jacob, Emma, and Addison on the street where peculiar is in sell to watch (window shopping).
They met the seller and came to the shop to see the peculiar children that she was selling. In the end, after saw all of them, they cornered the seller in her office to tell them where were the others arrested. She told them they were in the wights' den in the Smoke Street which was the street for outcast from the outcast. They went there and left Sharon because in the middle of the walk they met him (while hiding) and he was so suspicious after went out from lawyer's office.
When they were already in front of the wights' den which was a fortress, it was unguarded. In front of it, gathered a few freak people who asked for ambro. They mocked them when they told them they wanted to go inside and swore to them. They tried to go inside and got the warning from bridge's heads which can talk to not go there. Suddenly, in the middle of the bridge, it was disconnected. So, they used the pole of bridge's head who cussed at them. They crossed it and welcomed by another hollowgast. The hollowgast attacked them and Jacob could not control it, they got thrown away by it to the place where people gathered in front of the bridge.
Suddenly, a truck which driven by the wights was coming to the fortress bringing a container with peculiar inside. Jacob, Emma, Addison hide. The people begged the wights for the vial of ambro and the wights ordered them to make a queue. In the middle of that, Jacob and the others sneaked out to open the container but failed and got caught by the wight (not captured). The wights just went away to the fortress with Addison under the container, leaving the people without ambro, and they got angry to Jacob and Emma--they punched and kicked them.
The people got stopped by Sharon and his cousin (the workmen) and help Jacob and Emma where Jacob fainted. They were brought to the lawyer office which is Bentham's house; Miss Peregrine's brother. Jacob got healed by Mother Dust who use part of her body to and crushed it (become dust) which can heal wound.
When Jacob woke up, Emma and Jacob got told that they need to meet Bentham. In the middle of waiting, they sneaked out of the room and wandered around the house start from the basement which stocked some weird stuffs. It was like collector stuff per loops Bentham could have. And then, they went out and saw many rooms and went into the room which had snow in it. They realized that the room was some kind of loop that when the came in it was like in another place (which is Siberia). They met a man and bear and ran out. Until finally got found by Bentham and the bear (which is tame and named PT).
They went to the hallway and met Sharon who angry to them because they ran away again. After that, they listened to Bentham's story about the truth of wights and hollowgasts history. Bentham told them that Caul (the wights' leader) was his brother which is Miss Peregrine's brother, too. At first, Bentham and Caul had a brilliant idea to make the house had many loops which can make peculiars had easier access when want to visit another loop. In the middle of their work, Caul intention became another thing which was bad. He knew that the story of Library of Souls was real, a place where peculiar's souls were stored from the ancient times. He got crazy about it because the loop to that place was always moving and he made use of the loop he and Bentham's made. Bentham was against it and he was locked up. Bentham was making something to destroyed a loop. He pursued Caul and his followers to go to one loop and destroyed it (which failed and made all of them who went in hollowgasts and the one who had enough souls of peculiars became wights). Bentham got expelled and lived in Devil Acre because of it.
The house with many loops was needed some fuel to turn on it and it can connect to the loop where the wights' fortress was (because Caul made the same thing). And the fuel must be a hollowgast. Fortunately, Jacob's hollowgast which they thought was dead was alive and became a fighter in the town. Jacob, Emma, and Sharon went there and they knew that ambro was a vial from the peculiar soul that can make someone ability improved. Jacob fought the hollowgast (which he made it unreal, he ordered the hollowgast) and in the end, hollowgast acted dead and Jacob unlocked it from the chain.
They brought the hollowgast to the house and used it for house's fuel. There they met Bentham's assistant who operated the machine. The house's loop was on. Emma and Jacob went to one loop and went out to the room in the wights' tower. They made their time to went out from the tower and when they wanted to go out, the tower was guarded. The guards got disturbed by things that thrown at them from people outside (which is Sharon who managed it). Jacob and Emma tried to find their friends and went to a house and found that some peculiar children got their soul absorbed. They went underground and found all of their friend locked in the sells.
They got the key for every door and give them to their friend to release themselves and continue to next room to release their ymbrynes. Inside the next room was a man with locked mouth and they were welcomed by Caul's voice who told them that their ymbrynes were next to them guarded by mirror wall. Caul's made an offer if Jacob could beat all hollowgasts, they could have their ymbrynes.
In the middle of fighting the hollowgast, Jacob could not control it (because he was still new with its language). So, he got beaten by it and dragged to its nest. He crushed Mother Dust pinky finger to hollowgast's mouth and when they arrived at its nest, all of the hollowgasts in it and Jacob got to sleep (effect of dust).
After he woke up, he really mastered control all of the hollowgasts at once. So, Jacob and their friends (include ymbrynes) fought the wights together. When the wights were already cornered by peculiar (and Bentham + PT who suddenly helped them), Caul showed up and made Bentham changed his opinion and betrayed Emma and Jacob. Caul and Bentham hostage Miss Peregrine and will release her if Jacob wants to follow them to Library of Souls and help them to see the jar of souls (just librarian and the one like Jacob who can see it). Jacob did not have a choice and follow Caul.
They arrived in the loop where Library of Souls was. After Caul, Bentham, Jacob, Emma, Miss Peregrine went to the cave where the library was (the other left outside it), Caul ordered Jacob to explain all of the jars of souls he found (which was in the ancient language of peculiar). In the end of the maze of the cave, which was the place of strongest ability stored, Caul used one of them and became a giant. Their friends outside was coming to them and helped out while Caul wanted to kill them. In the middle of that, Bentham was using one of the jars and gave a recipe to destroyed the loop. Bentham became a giant too and fought Caul. All of the ymbrynes spelled the recipe and they ran out of the loop and tower when all of the loops in it destroyed.
They fought the rest of wights and rescued another peculiar children and brought them to Bentham's house to be healed by Mother Dust. The next day, Jacob went home and got accompanied by Emma and Miss Peregrine. When he was really confused what he wants to tell his parents, Miss Peregrine offered her ability to wiped some memories of them which were, in the end, Jacob did not want.
So, the reason of Jacob ran away was just he was so depressed about his grandpa's dead and wandered around London. He came back to the US and always wrote letters to Emma until one-day it stopped. It was because his parents took it from him (and his psychiatry) and told him who was Emma and what is peculiar things. He got send to a ward and when he, his dad and mom and 2 uncles wanted to go out of the garage, they got stopped by Miss Peregrine and the others who gave them all of their abilities (which made all of them except Jacob terrified which is good!! HA THAT'S WHY THEY SHOULD TRUST JACOB!). In the end, they wanted to stay awhile in Jacob's house with Jacob and Emma kissed in front of the house💋
